You could tell, and make it clear you, your friend, or both, need the help of:

A PARENT
Or any other adult who looks after you either at home or outside it

A RELATIVE

A TEACHER YOU TRUST
Or another adult at your school or college

A YOUTH WORKER, CADET COMMANDER, SCOUTS, GUIDES OR OTHER TEAM LEADER
Or a team or sports coach you trust

IF YOU ARE INVOLVED WITH YOUR CHURCH, AN ADULT THERE
Your parish should have somebody who works to make sure you are safe, and they should be making sure they are easy to find

You could encourage the friend you are worried about to speak to the same people, and offer to be with them if they want to talk to somebody and don’t mind you being there.

If you need to take things further, you might want to speak to your local council’s social care services if you are worried enough to need support from their teams.  Google the name of your council, and their website should help you to find the right people to speak to.

If you are very concerned and think there is real danger for your friend, or for you and others, and this is an emergency, either find a trusted adult who can help you to do this, or ring 999 yourself and ask to speak to the police.

If you have looked at our website’s “what we do, and what we don’t do” sections, and you think we might be able to help, please use our Contact Us form and we will come back to you.  Please make it clear if you are under-18, so that we know when we are replying to a child or young person.

Please look at our “what we will do with your information” section so that you and we are clear. If you tell us something that causes us serious worry or concern for your own or a friend’s safety and welfare we cannot keep secrets.  We might need to contact any of those we listed earlier on this page, and let them know that you have been in touch to tell us about your concerns.
